Hippo and hornbill

The food here continues to be fun. It isn’t exactly gourmet, but they put a lot of effort in.

Last night we had braai – big red snapper, craw daddies and proper meaty sausages, all BBQed outside among the hibiscus and bougainvillea.

Have been enjoying happy hour and chatting lots to a fun Minnesotan couple, but I’m still having a bit of trouble switching off. I keep thinking about work and London people even though they are still a week away.

In other news, have burnt my nose, bust the hose on my pressure gauge and hardly read any books.

But on the bright side, every night when they come to put down our mozzie nets and spray the room, they leave a little printout of a traditional African folk tale, so J has been reading to me about elephant, hippo, hornbill and other characters as I fall asleep.
